Less Waste

Having great specialty coffee delivered to your door usually involves a lot of waste. Coffee packaging tends to be modest in size (8-12oz) and rarely recyclable or compostable.  Shipping boxes are usually single use, recyclable at best.  Roasters are spread out all over the country (and world), meaning roasted beans often have to travel hundreds or thousands of miles to get to you.  We have a subscription with a local roaster for our “house blend”, and in a single year it used 25 shipping boxes, 75 12oz coffee bags, and traveled a minimum of 900 miles.

We’re hoping to do better by doing a bunch of things that only a small local business can do. We only partner with local DC/DVM roasters that we can pick up beans from in person. We deliver them to your door ourselves with as little extra packaging as possible (we have some cool options that you can check out here). We offer the option to have your beans delivered in your own set of reusable containers, sort of like a personal set of glass milk bottles being delivered and collected – but for coffee and stainless steel instead of glass :-).  If you ask really nicely we can even set you up with a personal set of single dose containers so that you can get your fresh & local coffee delivered pre-dosed in whatever amounts you want!
